NEAT-PATCH VS. PANDUIT

PANDUIT'S WMP1E and twenty-four 7ft CAT6 patch cables - $10.00 plus per Port

Based on pricing acquired through the major datacom distributors in the U.S., the typical price for PANDUIT's WMP1E and 24 7ft CAT6 PANDUIT patch cables as shown is around $240.00, or $10.00 per port. You can verify this by submitting these part numbers to your favorite distributor.

PANDUIT 1 Each  WMP1E

PANDUIT 24 Each UTPSP7

Divide the total cost of the materials above by 24. You will also need a couple of vertical managers to hold all that wasted patch cable. Add that to your list and to the 10.00 per port!

PANDUIT 2 Each  WMPVS50

Money aside, once you buy this solution, what can you do with it? Way too much money for a bad idea. Especially when you can have this!

Neat-Patch NP2K6 - $5.00 per port

NP2K6 - Deep pocket cable manager complete with twenty-four 2ft CAT6 flush molded patch cables.

The Problem

Rounded Rectangular Callout: Problem 1
Fact: The longer the patch cable, the harder it is to manage. Panduit's idea of cable management is an expiration system. Regardless of cable length, you just comb all the slack from each row over into the vertical manager where row after row is stacked upon one another until you can barely get the cover on, let alone try to troubleshoot or trace a cable. As with most, this IT manager gave up.

Rounded Rectangular Callout: Problem 2
Space limited cable manager. For 25 years, we've never taken advantage of some very valuable real estate right between the rack rails. We've always stopped at the rack rails. What a waste!

This network is typical of many. In this case there are 3 problems. The photo above shows a pretty scary mess of unnecessary long patch cables with no where to go. The photo below shows the switches in this installation are arranged in a chassis formation which provides an excellent opportunity to show you the difference between a chassis and a properly spaced network.

Rounded Rectangular Callout: Problem 3
Live by the chassis, die by the chassis! Chassis switches are great for port density, bad for wire management. How are you supposed to manage this?
Rounded Rectangular Callout: Problem 3 Uncovered - The Chassis
Fortunately, this is not a chassis, but it is an excellent example to show the difference between chassis density and proper spacing and arrangement of rack components

The Solution

It begins with rearranging the network, so that it makes sense. This arrangement is found in our downloadable Install Guide. We have replaced the Panduit manager with the NP2K6 from Neat-Patch. The kit's twenty-four CAT6 cables are 2ft long, a dimension that was overlooked when the industry decided to produce 1,3,5, and 7ft cables. Simple mathematics validate the fit of a 2 footer in a 19 inch equipment rack. The 2 ft cable promotes uniformity and leaves just enough excess to form a single coil circuit. The coil provides the bend radius that is taught by BICSI, but never achieved.

The Results

For half the price of the Panduit solution, we have turned this patch cable nightmare into an IT manager's dream. Each circuit is in the form of a single coil. Easy to trace, troubleshoot and manage.

The choice is yours!

                                      $800.00 More                                                                       $800.00 Less

The Savings? - About $800.00!

That's right! The money saved here is only part of the savings. The time saved managing this network is another of the benefits. The bend radius supplies optimal bandwidth over the wadding of cables in the Panduit solution which is one of the concerns regarding alien crosstalk between cables. Neat-Patch blows away the competition and takes care of the IT manager by bringing common sense to the industry at a very sensible price.
