The following guidance is from Neat-Patch, not the reviewers.
“Does it use too much rack space?”
Rack units are a real cost. NP1 uses 1U; NP2 uses 2U. The NP2K648 organizes 48 single coil circuits in as little as 4Us of rack space.
“Why use a slack-storage manager?”
Because every cable has slack. A patch cable has 2 ends. One end always plugs into a switch. The other end plugs into: a LAN workstation, a server, or a WAN port (fiber backbone, Firewall, core switch, etc.) Finger Duct, D-ring, and vertical cable managers, cannot properly manage excess cable. NEAT-PATCH® does.
“Will the cabinet door close?”
Until recently, we never saw a data cabinet that didn't have adjustable mounting rails. Both NP1 and NP2 extend 3 inches forward from the front mounting-rail plane to the cover. For normal cabinets, adjust the rail depth to a minimum of 3.25" from the door, and your cabinet door will close.
“How does NEAT-PATCH® compare to PATCHBOX?”
NEAT-PATCH®'s NP2K648 manages 48 cables in one 2U slack-storage manager, with all 48 two-foot CAT6 patch cords included. PATCHBOX requires two separate 24-cable units to match that capacity in the same 2U space.
| Specification | PATCHBOX.one 8RU Cat6a | NEAT-PATCH® NP2K624 | NEAT-PATCH® NP2K648 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Published price* | $618 | $114.99 | $159.99 |
| Included cables | 24 retractable Cat6a cables | 24 two-foot CAT6 cords | 48 two-foot CAT6 cords |
| Management rack space | 1U | 2U | 2U |
| Capacity per manager | 24 cable cassettes | 48 cables; 24 included | 48 cables; all 48 included |
| Expanding from 24 to 48 cables | Add a second complete PATCHBOX unit | Add 24 cords to the existing manager | Already equipped for 48 connections |
| Complete 48-cable configuration | Two units, 2U, $1,236 | NP2K648 kit shown alongside | One manager, 2U, $159.99 |
| Slack control | Individual retractable cassettes | Service coils stored inside NP2 | Service coils stored inside NP2 |
At the compared prices of $159.99 versus $1,236, Neat-Patch saves $1,076.01, approximately 87%. Its conventional patch cords can be replaced individually without purchasing proprietary retractable cassettes.
